This kit has been adapted from the International Committee of the Red Cross (2020) guidance.

It contains basic first aid medical supplies for use in settings affected by a humanitarian emergency.

The kit content allows first aid for external bleeding, artificial respiration (mouth-to-mouth/nose), skin wounds, burns, heat and cold protection. Material for 5 injured allowing 2 bandages each.

Its duration of use is likely to vary depending on the needs of the local setting and the availability of other healthcare services.

Where possible, agencies involved in the procurement and/or distribution of these kits should have a stock of consumables from the kit in order to top up the kit. A an inventory of the kit should be carried with the kit to check the kit contents before use.

It should also be noted that the contents of this kit can be customized according to the needs of the target population. For example, in some settings additional first aid kit items may be required.
