Basic clinical examination kit consists of a set of equipment used to perform general physical examination. The kit includes equipment used to examine both adults and children and the quantities are estimated for fifty patients. The kit can be used in any type of health care facility.  

The solution has been adapted from MSF manuals, Redcross catalogue and National Library of Medicine database.  

General physical examination is a process of evaluating objective anatomic findings through the use of observation, palpation, percussion, and auscultation. Usually, physical examination helps to identify baseline condition for a patient and minimize or prevent harm to the patient from disorders or diseases.

Important; Physical examination must be done by well-trained medical staff. 

All reusable products should be thoroughly cleaned and either high-level disinfected or sterilized after each use.  Hand hygiene solutions and appropriate PPE kits must be available for medical staff dealing with Covid-19 patients.  

Additional Information:   

Clock; Regular wall clock, indicating hours, minutes and seconds plus big enough to be readable from 5 – 6 meters is adequate.  

Scissors; All-purpose scissor to cut wound dressing materials or general application. No need to sterilize between uses.  

Scales; Mechanical or digital scale could be used to measure weight of patients. The kit contains digital scale as it is easy to use and eliminate personal errors.
